Discover: Fit For Rivals

Fit For Rivals are all dangerous confidence from the minute Renee Phoenix’s gravelly, smirking vocals hit the scene. It is Phoenix’s vocals that make the biggest impact, fierce and irrepressible, giving the band’s music an impressive intensity and urgency that demands your attention. If nothing else, Phoenix deserves to rest in the upper echelons of rock singers, proving her worth on each track as she bestows snarls and spunk wherever called for. Behind the vocals, the group’s hard-rock-meets-metal sound is aggressive and sturdy enough to complement and support Phoenix’s vocals, without coming close to drowning them out. The band have all the swagger of rock stars, and have maintained that energy and image throughout their two albums. While “Damage,” off their 2013 album “Steady Damage” may be the band’s biggest hit, Fit For Rivals have an impressive catalog of in-your-face rock anthems to show for themselves.
