The way Midnight Divide describe themselves is as a cinematic rock outfit, and it is a surprisingly apt moniker. Their songs feel grandiose, made for the big screens, and not in an over-the-top way. There’s ambition written into every synth flair and unexpected crescendo or out-of-the-blue vocal maneuver. This is a band that is not afraid to take risks, no matter how outlandish. Take, for example, their debut EP “Embrace The Wave,” where Midnight Divide introduce the EP with “Torn,” an Imagine Dragons-esque electronic indie rock track, and then contrast that with “Wild Ones,” a track with a distinct country feel. For Midnight Divide, it is evidently more important to convey the feeling than stick to a genre, and we can’t say we disagree.
